Welcome to the Southern Regional Drugs Task Force
"Working in partnership to reduce the harmful effects caused to society by Drug or alcohol misuse"
The Southern Regional Drugs Task Force was established under the National Drugs Strategy 2001 -2008 to work with communities who are experiencing issues of drug and alcohol misuse (in counties Cork & Kerry, but not Cork City, where there is a Local Drugs Task Force), and to support projects in these communities which address an identified need. The Task Force now operates under the National Drugs Strategy 2009 -2016

The Task Force operates using Partnership Principles and has membership from the statutory, voluntary and community sectors alongside public representatives. The SRDTF employs a coordinator (Chris Black) and a Development Worker (Gordon Kinsley) who are employed to oversee the implementation of a Regional Strategy. The Coordinator is employed by the HSE but reports to the Chairperson of the Task Force (Peadar King) for day to day operations
This website provides information on the activites, projects and initiatives supported by SRDTF - just follow the links above or to the left to navigate the site.

The latest addition to our Ebook site, is an invaluable directory of Psychoactive Substances, collated by Sinead O'Mahony Carey, Drugs Education Officer with the Substance Misuse Service in South Tipperary. If you ever wanted to know what chemicals are contained in Disco Biskits, or Meow Meow etc... then this guide gives you their details and the known effects on the body, both positive and negative. Substances covered range from plants found in the garden, to tropical plants, to synthetic chemicals.... The book also covers substances sold in headshops and breaks down their components, so you can see what each chemical is,what it was originally developed for, and what it does to the body. |

A research team at Dublin Institute of Technology are undertaking a study of legal high use. The researchers are interested in your use of legal highs, your opinion of them and the effects you experience. This includes former legal highs, such as mephedrone and BZP and current legal highs such as Pure-NRG, Amplified, Diablo and Raz. There are also a few questions about other drugs (such as alcohol, ecstasy and cocaine). The information you provide will enhance their understanding of your experiences with legal highs and will be used to help develop harm reduction, health and other interventions.
Please complete the survey if you have taken a legal high at least once and are 16 years of age or over.
You will not be asked to reveal your identity and the information you submit will be confidential. Your computer's IP (Internet Protocol) address will not be stored. Please allow approximately 15 minutes to complete the survey.
If you have any questions about the survey please contact Cathy at
