Welcome to the Southern Regional Drugs Task Force
"Working in partnership to reduce the harmful effects caused to society by Drug or alcohol misuse"

The Task Force operates using Partnership Principles and has membership from the statutory, voluntary and community sectors alongside public representatives. The SRDTF employs a coordinator (Chris Black) and a Development Worker (Gordon Kinsley) who are employed to oversee the implementation of a Regional Strategy. The Coordinator is employed by the HSE but reports to the Chairperson of the Task Force (Tom Daly) for day to day operations

Substance Use Issues In Youth & Community Work Course (FETAC Level 5)
In association with the Cork College of Commerce
· The (FETAC Level 5) Substance Use Issues In Youth & Community Work course components are designed to promote good practice among those who work (in a paid or voluntary capacity) with young people and communities who are affected by substance use.
· The course can provide a critical perspective on some of the issues that affect young people and their communities and encourages the development of coherent responses at individual and organisational level. The components (Communication & Substance Use Issues in Youth & Community) should promote the ability of learners to work safely and effectively in youth and / or community work settings.

Applications are invited for the following post of Rehabilitation Coordinator.
The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team working with HSE Addiction Service and other agencies in the provision of comprehensive rehabilitation services for persons with drug and alcohol problems. The rehabilitation coordinator will provide, in harmony with the treatment centres, support to clients who need to engage with agencies and services to assist in their rehabilitation.
The successful candidate will:
- Possess a relevant qualification in addiction/studies/counseling recognised by IAAC.
- Have a minimum of two years experience in the field

Free Service to Dispose of Unused Medicines Properly (DUMP)
A free service to dispose of unused or out of date medicines will be available to the general public in Cork and Kerry from 14th February 2011.

The ‘Dispose of Unused Medicines Properly’ (DUMP) campaign, which has been organised by the HSE with the community pharmacists in Cork and Kerry and supported by Cork City Council, Cork County Council and Kerry County Council will commence on Monday 14th February 2011 and run in participating pharmacies until 28th March 2011.
More than 240 pharmacies are participating in the campaign and are actively encouraging people to return unwanted or out of date medicines to them so that it can be disposed of safely and properly.
